Top Nigeria’s music stars including Tuface, Iyanya, D’banj, Tiwa Savage, Davido, and Wizkid bagged nominations in various categories at the 2014 World Music Awards. The World Music Awards are based on sales merit and voted by the public on the Internet.

With the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, IFPI, providing the organizers with the names of the best-selling artists from all major territories, the World Music Awards, which is regarded as the best music awards because of its transparency, will honour the best-selling recording artists from every continent.

The World Music Awards are based on sales merit and voted by the public on the Internet as there is no jury involved.

The world’s best-selling recording-artists in each category are determined by a thorough inquiry conducted by the organizers which includes sales figures and record certification in 2013.

Kukere master, Iyanya, leads with six nominations for his hit singles “Away” and “Le Kwa Ukwu.”

There is a new twist to the Don Jazzy versus Wande Coal saga as new reports allege that Tiwa Savage, the first lady of Mavin records is the source of the whole trouble.
Some hours ago, Don Jazzy accused former label mate Wande Coal for allegedly stealing one of his songs titled ‘Baby face’.
According to report, Tiwa and Don Jazzy were rejoicing over the positive responses from fans over the success of their recently released 'Eminado' video when she brought his attention to the released 'Baby Face' track.

What are you doing on Sunday November 3?

Nigeria’s leading stand-up comedian Tee A wants you to clear up your calendar, as he plans to deliver another live concert featuring some of the biggest names on the continent today.

The respected entertainer announced today that he’s hosting the Lagos edition of Tymeout With Tee A Live Concert at the Intercontinental Hotel on Sunday November 5; with headliners including international music superstar D’Banj, iconic pop acts and one of Africa’s most decorated entertainers 2face Idibia, queen of pop Tiwa Savage, revered lyricist Sound Sultan and a special Jump Off segment with Africa’s number one jockey DJ Jimmy JATT.

The spectacular line up was unveiled today, as Tee A revealed plans for this year’s Lagos show. An Abuja edition held earlier, with Banky W, Lynxxx, Basketmouth, Iyanya, KCee and others.

The November 5 event will also feature electrifying performances by Princess, MC Abbey, Omo Baba, Akpororo, Helen Paul and the hit Shuga Band.

Tee A, who pioneered live comedy events in Nigeria with his nineties Live ‘N Naked series, will host the event which is a live presentation of the popular TV show Tymeout With Tee A.

It’s D’banj’s second time on the show and Tee A says the charming entertainer is ‘back by popular demand’. 

‘We had fun at the MUSON Centre last year’, he said in Lagos today. ‘And we’re doing it even bigger this year with some of the biggest performers around. Even I can’t wait!’

Like To Party is a testament that you can catch a hit record without following the typical music format that rules the airwaves in Nigeria. Burna Boy appeared to have come from nowhere after “Like To Party” became an overwhelming hit all over Lagos and most parts of Nigeria, but the reality is that he has been dropping music since 2011 and finally caught his biggest hit in 2012. Burna then went on to deliver a quality video for not just his first single off the L.I.F.E album but for his other strong and widely accepted singles such as Tonight and Run My Race which were produced by Aristokrat in-house producer LeriQ.

The 2013 MTN 4syte TV Music Video Awards has unveiled nominees for Best African Act Video .This category requires the basic criteria of the MTN 4SYTE TV MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS scheme namely picture quality, photography, directing and editing and must be shot on high definition camera. The song must be a hit  in Ghana, the music video must  have enjoyed massive media airplay in Ghana and the rest of Africa plus strong social media platform presence. This award category carries 70% public votes.

Mavin’s first Lady – Tiwa Savage is claiming to be the female Boss of Nigerian music.
When asked on this week’s edition of Rubbin’ Minds, who she considered the biggest threat to Tiwa Savage amongst the female vocalists, she replied, “none actually.”
“In my head the people I compete against are the male artistes” she stated boldly and further adding that “for me I look at the bigger picture fortunately.”
“I look at people like Wizkid, Iyanya, Tuface, D’banj, Ice Prince. They are getting MOBOs, BET awards, MTVs, so I’m like I’m coming for you guys” she stated.

The 23-year-old Pop star posted a photo of him holding a set of car keys – his BMW X6 car key which we are familiar with and a Rolls Royce car key, several minutes later, Tiwa posted a photo of herself sitting on a white Rolls Royce.
