Davido, Tiwa Savage, Iyanya, D’banj, Tuface others bag World Music Awards nominations

Top Nigeria’s music stars including Tuface, Iyanya, D’banj, Tiwa Savage, Davido, and Wizkid bagged nominations in various categories at the 2014 World Music Awards. The World Music Awards are based on sales merit and voted by the public on the Internet.

With the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, IFPI, providing the organizers with the names of the best-selling artists from all major territories, the World Music Awards, which is regarded as the best music awards because of its transparency, will honour the best-selling recording artists from every continent.

The world’s best-selling recording-artists in each category are determined by a thorough inquiry conducted by the organizers which includes sales figures and record certification in 2013.

Kukere master, Iyanya, leads with six nominations for his hit singles “Away” and “Le Kwa Ukwu.”

Mavin’s first Lady – Tiwa Savage is claiming to be the female Boss of Nigerian music.
When asked on this week’s edition of Rubbin’ Minds, who she considered the biggest threat to Tiwa Savage amongst the female vocalists, she replied, “none actually.”
“In my head the people I compete against are the male artistes” she stated boldly and further adding that “for me I look at the bigger picture fortunately.”
“I look at people like Wizkid, Iyanya, Tuface, D’banj, Ice Prince. They are getting MOBOs, BET awards, MTVs, so I’m like I’m coming for you guys” she stated.
