Mikel Obi dreams Afcon trophy with Super Eagles
follow @moshmustapha for more
Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has stated that he has
started dreaming of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations trophy for Nigeria
after a long trophyless time for the two-time African champions.
Obi who was voted the man of the match in the game against Burkina Faso noted that the players are in a good frame of mind to pick the three points against Zambia on Friday.
“We may have drawn our first game but we need to settle down and forget it and concentrate on the next game. There is no problem with the team because we are determined to make Nigerians happy after the match against the defending champions.
"What happened in the match against Burkina Faso will not repeat itself. We are going to take our chances in the next game.
"I know that everything will work well for us on Friday because we need to win that game to put our Nations Cup participation on a sound footing.
"I can see us smiling home with the trophy at the end of the day because we have a team that can win the ultimate prize for the third time”, he said during Tuesday’s evening training session.

The Afcon hosts defied the pressure placed on them by fans and media alike and were able to secure a win over the Palancas Negras with a fluid and dominant display
South Africa scored their first goals of 2013 which sealed a vital 2-0 win against Angola in Durban on Wednesday evening
A first half volley from central defender Siyabonga Sagweni put the home side into the lead and substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro scored the second which gave the Afcon hosts a crucial three points in Group A.
South Africa made five changes to the side which started against Cape
Verde, with Gordon Igesund focusing on providing the promise of
attacking football, giving starts to the likes of Tokelo Rantie, Tsepo
Masilela, Katlelgo Mphela and May Mahlangu. Dean Furman was also handed a
chance to stabilise the midfield with his accurate passing.
Angola, who also failed to score in their opening game, was able to start rising star Djalma Campos on the bench and once more rested their hopes on the scoring form of Manucho and the link-up play provided by Geraldo in the midfield.
Played in a tense, pulsating atmosphere at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium the clash began with Angola creating an early chance as Mateus burst through the midfield and fired a strike in from range, which went just wide.
Dean Furman’s impact was certainly felt in the opening minutes, as the midfielder showed his attacking class with some slick passes and glimpses of the vision he possesses. The home side benefitted from his presence as they piled the pressure on a nervy-looking Angolan defence.
The combination play between Phala, Mphela and Rantie mesmerised
Angola at times, but the young South African striker’s finishing touch
abandoned him on two occasions.
Sangweni, normally plying his trade in the central defensive position for Bafana Bafana, showed his teammates how to score a goal with an impeccable volley in the 30th minute as he latched onto a looping ball and deposited it into the bottom right corner of the net, after making a telling run into the box.
Angola looked to hit back immediately as an accurate cross provided by Geraldo found Manucho at the near post, whose header had to be palmed out for a corner by Ithumeleng Khune. But the South Africans were not deterred as they continued to enhance their play with pace and intent to find a second goal.
Bafana Bafana went into the break with a vital lead, while Angola would have looked to improve their potency in the final third.
The hosts made an early substitution in the second half, bringing on Reneilwe Letsolhoyane for Mahlangu and Midfield general Djalma Campos came on for Angola, in order to steady a faltering ship in the middle of the park.
Mateus was threatening once more as Angola began to display more confidence in their play, as he set-up Manucho with a low horizontal ball from the right flank, but the striker could only drive an effort straight into Khune’s grateful arms.
Furman almost doubled Bafana Bafana’s lead with a clever low drive which Lama had to get a finger to in order to stop it from sneaking past him at his near post.
An attack by Angola seemed destined for a goal, but South Africa was able to counter with prowess, as Majoro kept calm at the near post with some mazy running and a low strike which beat Lama and sent South Africa into a 2-0 lead.
With less than half-an-hour to play South Africa decided to consolidate their lead and soak up Angola’s continued pressure. Their tactic worked and the hosts were able to hang on for a vital win, which should energise the home fans and the tournament itself.

RIM Launches BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10
follow @moshmustapha for more
Just one week before the big launch of BlackBerry 10, Research in Motion today announced that BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is now available for download.
RIM said BES 10 "re-invents" RIM's enterprise mobility management solution by bringing together device management, security, and mobile app management for BlackBerry devices. BES 10 also includes a single console for managing BlackBerry, Android and iOS devices, RIM said.
"BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 empowers employees to be more productive and better equipped to serve customers while it provides business and IT leaders with the confidence that corporate data is protected and manageable in the same way they have long enjoyed with BlackBerry," Peter Devenyi, senior vice president of Enterprise Software at RIM, said in a statement. "BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 makes mobility easy for businesses to help keep them moving."
RIM touted the flexibility allowed in BES 10, including the option for employees to use business-issued smartphones or their own devices - even if those gadgets aren't BlackBerrys. All devices are managed via a Web-based console, while managers have the option to separate secure work apps from personal content on BlackBerrys via BlackBerry Balance.
RIM also touted BlackBerry World for Work, a new corporate app storefront for BlackBerry 10 smartphones that lets companies manage employees' apps. "Administrators can push and install the organization's mandatory apps to both corporate and personal-owned devices and publish recommended apps to employees," RIM said.
Managers can also drill down and set up work profiles, providing access to certain content to specific people and groups.
The BES10 software is available for download on BlackBerry.com. New users get a limited 60-day free trial; existing users can sign up for the free license trade up program, which is available until Dec. 31.
For consumers, meanwhile, RIM is scheduled to take the wraps off BlackBerry 10 and new BlackBerry smartphones at a New York press event on Jan. 30. The new OS was supposed to be released last year, but was delayed until this month, allowing Samsung and Apple to steamroll past RIM in terms of market share in 2012.
Earlier this month, RIM held two Port-A-Thon events for the BB10 Community and Android developers. In total, it received 15,000 app submissions within 37.5 hours.

Ashley Cole delighted to secure Chelsea future with contract extension

Cole is now keen to enjoy further success for Rafa Benitez's side, having won a number of major trophies, including last season's Champions League.
"When you are going through this kind of thing, of course you always want to stay here but it was also in my mind that I could be leaving a club where I have great memories, and have enjoyed great times," Cole told Chelsea's official website.
"I feel I have a good relationship with the people at the club and the fans and it would have been sad if I had had to leave, so I am glad I have signed for one year.
"But to play nearly 300 (matches) in total is brilliant for me, and hopefully I'll play some more."
Cole has suffered with ankle problems in the past but he is in rude health at the moment and has paid tribute to the medical staff at the club.
"I feel fit," he added. "Everyone was always saying about my ankle in the past but it has not been an issue.
"I feel healthy and the physios at Chelsea are brilliant, they look after you and there are great facilities.
"It is a tough league and very demanding but I think I can keep going for a few more seasons yet."

David Beckham's son Brooklyn set to join Chelsea after having a successful trial with the club.

The return of Beckham to the Premier League could be just a matter of
time - and it looks like being at Chelsea, according to a report.
While David Beckham's playing future remains up in the air, his 13-year-old son Brooklyn has had a trial with the Blues, and Golden Balls was on the touchline cheering the lad on, according to the Daily Mail.
The Mail reports that Beckham Snr was spotted at Chelsea's Cobham training ground on Tuesday, but he wasn't there to reignite his own playing career in Britain, but help kickstart that of his son, who was on the U14 roster at the LA Galaxy academy when Beckham played in the States.
Several Chelsea fans tweeted their surprise at the appearance of arguably the world's most famous footballer at their club.
Tweeter Sid Celery is said to have posted: 'Ok, so I've just picked up that the reason David Beckham was at Cobham today was that son Brooklyn is being trialled for CFC U14s #Phew.'
16/1 Brooklyn Beckham signs a professional contract with Chelsea before the age of 18
25/1 he plays for a Man Utd XI before 2025
66/1 he captains England at senior level
No odds yet on Brooklyn getting a boot in the head from an elderly Scotsman, but difficult to price up as I guess we're burning the candle at both ends on that one...
