There are indications that the Federal Government may soon be
banning the sale and widespread consumption of hides and skins (kpomo)
which is a delicacy to most Nigerians.
This indication emerged on Tuesday, September 9, when Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina called for competent regulations that would check the consumption and sale of the product, Vanguard reports.

This year Drake leads the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 with eight impressive nominations for ‘Best Hip Hop Video’, ‘Best Live Performer’, ‘Lyricist of the Year’, ‘MVP of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Hustler of the Year’, ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse’, and the coveted ‘People’s Champ Award.’ Followed by Jay Z, Future and Pharrell who each received six nods; Nicki Minaj, Rich Homie Quan and YG garnered five HHA nominations.
The awards will be taped on Saturday 20 September at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, USA for the ninth year running. The awards will premiere on Friday 17 October on BET in Africa.

If latest news are to be believed, then academic activities may not resume in both private and public schools in Nigeria in the month of September.
This is based upon reports that the House of Representatives has asked its Committee on Education to take another look at the resumption date announced for private and public schools in the country.
According to a report published by Thisday online, the decision of the lawmakers is necessitated by growing concerns among the public, especially parents and guardians of students, over the recent decision by the education authorities to reopen schools for the 2014/2015 academic session on Monday, September 22, 2014 despite the threat of the Ebola Virus Disease which has killed seven people in Nigeria.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on Tuesday, 9 September, 2014,commenced the sale of 2015 application form that will usher in the full implementation of computer based test, CBT, in the 2015 universal tertiary matriculation examination, UTME.
This is according to a press release signed by the registrar of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde and made available to the media on Tuesday.
The registrar informed that candidates are expected to start purchasing their forms from Monday, 15 Septembers to Thursday, 15th January, 2015.
Professor Ojerinde, who assured candidates that the Board has fine-tuned arrangements with computer based test (CBT) centres to register prospective UTME candidates, prayed for a stress free registration exercise for candidates.

A 32 year old father of five, Timothy Ray Jones (pictured left) has
admitted to killing all five of his children and dumping their bodies in
rubbish bags at the side of a road. He led police to the scene
(pictured right) where they found bodies of all five of the children
stuffed into bin bags near a logging road, 50 miles away in Alabama,
Reuters reports.
The children, aged between 8 and 2 were reported missing from their home in South Carolina on September 3rd by their mother. Their bodies were found today. Notes referring to violence against the children were also found in his car. Continue...
