Research: Ebola May Hit 15 More Countries

A new research has revealed that the deadliest Ebola outbreak in the history of mankind could spread to no fewer than 15 countries in West and Central Africa.
The research, carried out by the University of Oxford, also stated that up to 70 million people would be at risk of infection.
It was gathered that the study compared historic outbreaks to the virus’ possible transmission in bats and chimpanzees to predict how the disease could spread through its vast animal reservoir.

According to reports, it is the first time scientists have attempted to explain how the virus, which is contracted through contact with infected bodily fluids, has travelled westward across Africa.

As the whole world continue to wage war against the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa, American business magnate, Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda Gates, have joined hands in the fight against the dreaded disease.
Acting in response to the devastating Ebola outbreak in four West Africa nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced on Wednesday, 10 September, 2014 that it has pledged $50 million to help combat the epidemic.

According to a news release by the foundation, founded by Bill and Melinda in 2000 to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, the money will be made available to United Nations agencies and international organizations involved in effort to fight Ebola in West Africa and the continent as a whole.

Lawmakers To Re-examine Schools' Resumption Date

If latest news are to be believed, then academic activities may not resume in both private and public schools in Nigeria in the month of September.
This is based upon reports that the House of Representatives has asked its Committee on Education to take another look at the resumption date announced for private and public schools in the country.
According to a report published by Thisday online, the decision of the lawmakers is necessitated by growing concerns among the public, especially parents and guardians of students, over the recent decision by the education authorities to reopen schools for the 2014/2015 academic session on Monday, September 22, 2014 despite the threat of the Ebola Virus Disease which has killed seven people in Nigeria.
