The former music partners were spotted looking very friendly at Ice Prince's FOZ album launch on Saturday November 23rd. Imagine if these two got back together. But I hear they are working on new music together.

A source close to D’Banj and his former producer and partner, Don Jazzy, has told Amenbovillage.Net that times have changed and the two men are back together as good friends and have decided to work together. Since separating from each other, D’banj has not released any song that is as strong and with National appeal as it used to be when Don Jazzy was his producer. Also, Don Jazzy on his part has not been able to produce any hit with his new crew like it used to be when D’Banj was around. So, don’t be surprised if you hear a new hit song from D’banj and Don Jazzy any time soon. The good days are back for lovers of good music in Naija and I hear the atmosphere is charged to deliver something that would be worth the long breaks. A new generation of artistes are rocking the entertainment scene and smiling to the bank, JAYNE AUGOYE reports
A wind of change is currently blowing across the music industry in Nigeria. A new order championed by young, vibrant and talented artistes has emerged. Rather than curse the day that their children decided to embrace a career in music instead of education, the parents of these wave-making artistes are pleased with the success they have achieved.
Today, the young artistes are giving the older and established stars a run for their money. These new-wave superstars now rub shoulders with the same artistes whom they once looked up to or chose as role models.
Apart from competing with the ‘old guards’ in terms of income and expenditure, they are often nominated for major music awards in similar categories.
Multinationals and telecommunications outfits, as well as other major events sponsors, have realised that the younger generation of music artistes represent the future of entertainment in Nigeria. With a good number of them aged between 20 and 25 years and a few others barely clocking 30, the sky seems to be the limit.
Many of the emerging stars are not just rich; they flaunt their wealth at every given opportunity. It seems that the rewards for their modest efforts at making many Nigerians happy are without limit and they always come in the form of luxury mansions, sold-out concerts, huge fan base, state-of-the-art cars, bestselling albums, multi-million naira endorsement deals, chattered flights, big budget videos, custom-made outfits, ‘bling bling’ and generous airplay on terrestrial TV stations.
Usually dressed in sagging pairs of trousers with expensive jewellery around their necks, many of them charge as much as N1.5m to mime to their songs for only 10 minutes at wedding parties or concerts. Many of them had to drop out of school to pursue a career in music.
E-Punch presents six young music stars that have taken the music scene by storm.
Wizkid
At 23, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, leads the pack. A string of endorsement deals, including one from MTN, has placed him on the list of big earning music artistes in Nigeria. At present, he is the highest paid Pepsi Ambassador in Africa and he lives in a N140m choice home in Lekki, Lagos.

Within the time span of Summer 2012 and Summer 2013, several new artists have made their entrance into the music scene. Some have made a lot of noise with their music, but only a handful of artists really had us putting their songs on repeat, making noise when a song came on and made serious impact between the aforementioned time period.
The list below is a True, undiluted run down of the Artists that shaped, defined and led music among Nigerian consumers in the past year.

10. Burna Boy

Like To Party is a testament that you can catch a hit record without following the typical music format that rules the airwaves in Nigeria. Burna Boy appeared to have come from nowhere after “Like To Party” became an overwhelming hit all over Lagos and most parts of Nigeria, but the reality is that he has been dropping music since 2011 and finally caught his biggest hit in 2012. Burna then went on to deliver a quality video for not just his first single off the L.I.F.E album but for his other strong and widely accepted singles such as Tonight and Run My Race which were produced by Aristokrat in-house producer LeriQ.

The 2013 MTN 4syte TV Music Video Awards has unveiled nominees for Best African Act Video .This category requires the basic criteria of the MTN 4SYTE TV MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS scheme namely picture quality, photography, directing and editing and must be shot on high definition camera. The song must be a hit  in Ghana, the music video must  have enjoyed massive media airplay in Ghana and the rest of Africa plus strong social media platform presence. This award category carries 70% public votes.

Mavin’s first Lady – Tiwa Savage is claiming to be the female Boss of Nigerian music.
When asked on this week’s edition of Rubbin’ Minds, who she considered the biggest threat to Tiwa Savage amongst the female vocalists, she replied, “none actually.”
“In my head the people I compete against are the male artistes” she stated boldly and further adding that “for me I look at the bigger picture fortunately.”
“I look at people like Wizkid, Iyanya, Tuface, D’banj, Ice Prince. They are getting MOBOs, BET awards, MTVs, so I’m like I’m coming for you guys” she stated.

BET award winner, Ice Prince Zamani is working real hard towards the release of his sophomore album. And he’s just secured a major collabo with US-born Nigerian rapper, Wale.
The chocolate city rapper posted a photo on his instagram page with the caption ‘New Alert ft @walemmg #TheGifted #FireOfZamani- Sept7th Wale na BaBa!!!’, signaling an already recorded single.

Prince seems to think the labels are
doing a great job...and the artists
have themselves to blame if their
careers aren't going the way they
want. Who agrees with him?
