Lil Kesh
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned Lil Kesh’s Shoki Video, months after it has enjoyed massive airplay.

Lil Kesh
The Commission which is responsible for regulating and controlling the broadcast industry have woken up months after this song was  by Olamide’s protege Lil Kesh. The song which has enjoyed massive acceptance within and outside the country amongst music lovers is even more popular because of its dance.
Apparently ‘Shoki’  means quickie in Yoruba language. The ban development was made known a popular radio personality and media person, Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz.
However various reactions have been trailing the ban of this much loved song on twitter and Instagram. See below some of it:
Apparently shoki means ‘Quickie’ in yoruba…never heard that before.. — Tolu (@ToolzO) September 17, 2014 …and here is Lil Kesh’s reaction to the ban:
The upcoming artiste also posted these on his Instagram page….apparently a fan of his music posted it on Twitter, so he posted it on his Instagram page.

However, if you have never heard of the song or watched the video before, here is it below. Enjoy watching it below

BON bans several artists including 2face, D'banj, Wizkid, Olamide, Iyanya, because of COSON

follow @moshbyte on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

For quite some time now, the Copyrights Society of Nigeria (COSON), has been harassing the Broadcasting Society of Nigeria (BON) and the Independent Broadcasting Society of Nigeria, IBAN, insisting that they pay royalties for playing the songs of Nigerian artists. COSON has dragged several radio and TV stations to court, demanding millions, sometimes billions of Naira in royalty.

Well, it seems IBAN and BON have had enough. Two days ago, they announced the ban of all Nigerian artists registered with COSON. Meaning that they ordered the immediate stop to the airing of songs of artists who are COSON members.

The artists include 2face Idibia, D'banj, Onyeka Onwenu, Iyanya, Banky W, Flavour, Ice Prince, Dr Sid, Olamide, 9ice, M.I, eLDee, Ruggedman, Wizkid, Asa, Waje, Omawumi and several others.

In a statement released and signed jointly by the President and Secretary of IBAN, Sonny Adun and Guy Murray Bruce, the need for such a drastic step was due to "the antagonism and harassment under the leadership of Tony Okoroji (COSON Chairman)”. Continue...

A new generation of artistes are rocking the entertainment scene and smiling to the bank, JAYNE AUGOYE reports
A wind of change is currently blowing across the music industry in Nigeria. A new order championed by young, vibrant and talented artistes has emerged. Rather than curse the day that their children decided to embrace a career in music instead of education, the parents of these wave-making artistes are pleased with the success they have achieved.
Today, the young artistes are giving the older and established stars a run for their money. These new-wave superstars now rub shoulders with the same artistes whom they once looked up to or chose as role models.
Apart from competing with the ‘old guards’ in terms of income and expenditure, they are often nominated for major music awards in similar categories.
Multinationals and telecommunications outfits, as well as other major events sponsors, have realised that the younger generation of music artistes represent the future of entertainment in Nigeria. With a good number of them aged between 20 and 25 years and a few others barely clocking 30, the sky seems to be the limit.
Many of the emerging stars are not just rich; they flaunt their wealth at every given opportunity. It seems that the rewards for their modest efforts at making many Nigerians happy are without limit and they always come in the form of luxury mansions, sold-out concerts, huge fan base, state-of-the-art cars, bestselling albums, multi-million naira endorsement deals, chattered flights, big budget videos, custom-made outfits, ‘bling bling’ and generous airplay on terrestrial TV stations.
Usually dressed in sagging pairs of trousers with expensive jewellery around their necks, many of them charge as much as N1.5m to mime to their songs for only 10 minutes at wedding parties or concerts. Many of them had to drop out of school to pursue a career in music.
E-Punch presents six young music stars that have taken the music scene by storm.
Wizkid
At 23, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, leads the pack. A string of endorsement deals, including one from MTN, has placed him on the list of big earning music artistes in Nigeria. At present, he is the highest paid Pepsi Ambassador in Africa and he lives in a N140m choice home in Lekki, Lagos.

The 10 Hottest Artists in Nigeria By (Not Just Ok)

follow @moshbyte on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

10hot
Within the time span of Summer 2012 and Summer 2013, several new artists have made their entrance into the music scene. Some have made a lot of noise with their music, but only a handful of artists really had us putting their songs on repeat, making noise when a song came on and made serious impact between the aforementioned time period.
The list below is a True, undiluted run down of the Artists that shaped, defined and led music among Nigerian consumers in the past year.

10. Burna Boy

Like To Party is a testament that you can catch a hit record without following the typical music format that rules the airwaves in Nigeria. Burna Boy appeared to have come from nowhere after “Like To Party” became an overwhelming hit all over Lagos and most parts of Nigeria, but the reality is that he has been dropping music since 2011 and finally caught his biggest hit in 2012. Burna then went on to deliver a quality video for not just his first single off the L.I.F.E album but for his other strong and widely accepted singles such as Tonight and Run My Race which were produced by Aristokrat in-house producer LeriQ.

Rapper, Olamide a.k.a BaddestGuyEverLiveth has shown us why he's loved by his fans as he displayed his generosity on twitter.

The young artist who has got success at his heels, gave out N50, 000 to a lucky fan on twitter.
Some days ago, the “durosoke” crooner, tweeted “share your riches with the poor make dem nogo share with u tomorrow” the tweet garnered lots of re-tweets from his 200,000+ followers, however a fan replied the tweet by asking his idol (Olamide) for N10,000.
Surprisingly, Olamide not only yielded his request but gave himmore than what he asked for.
Trust Nigerians not to dull as it was followed by numerous requests which he granted.

Olamide To Join Dbanj's DB Records

We’ve seen the track list for
D’Banj’s DKM album and
know that apart from the
international acts, only two
Nigerian acts outside D’banj’s
DB records were featured on
the album.
The two being D’banj’s former
sound alike Durella and YBNL
crooner Olamide .
Rumours have it that D’Banj is
in advanced talks with
Olamide to join D’banj on his
DB records and both have
been seen together in public
functions recently including the
just concluded Nigerian
entertainment conference.
The Kokomaster is slowing down
one bit. Our favorite
entertainer D’banj and his DB
Records team have released their
compilation album ‘D’ King’s Men‘.
And without wasting any time, he
has started shooting videos for
some of the singles including the
solo ‘Don’t tell me Nonsense‘.
The video was shot on Sunday, April
28, 2013 in Lagos by video director
Matt Max who also shot Olamide’s –
‘Stupid love‘ and features talented
dancer Kaffy plus some other
popular video vixens.
D’banj and the young Yoruba
rapper baddo Olamide have hit the
studio once again to record another
song. They previously recorded the
song ‘Ibadi e’ feat Kay Switch and
Durella
