Microsoft to Google: Please remove us from internet

Google

Microsoft appears to have asked Google to remove some microsoft.com pages from Google's search engine.
TorrentFreak reportsthat LeakID, an organisation that provides services such as “Monitoring illegal links and sources” and “Send automated takedown notices to ISPs hosting infringing links and websites”, has sent Google a notice to stop indexing some pages on Microsoft's site because they infringe Microsoft's copyright.
The leaked takedown request, visible here makes for chucklesome reading, as the pages Microsoft requests be removed are entirely innocuous affairs like this description of Office 2010 Service Pack 1.

Google Launches Streaming Music Service Ahead Of Apple

follow @moshbyte on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

Google Inc launched a music service on Wednesday that allows users to listen to unlimited songs for $9.99 a month, challenging smaller companies like Pandora and Spotify in the market for streaming music.

With its new service, announced at its annual developers’ conference in San Francisco, Google has adopted the streaming music business model ahead of rival Apple Inc, which pioneered online music purchases with iTunes.
Google’s “All Access” service lets users customize song selections from 22 genres, ranging from Jazz to Indie music, stream individual playlists, or listen to a curated, radio-like stream that can be tweaked. It will be launched for U.S. users first, before being rolled out to several other countries.
Google unveiled a string of improvements to other services, including new mapping features and a voice-activated search, at the conference. The focus was on giving more options to users of mobile devices using its Android software, the operating system that now runs three out of every four smartphones sold.

BBM to be available as a free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play store

Mobile phone giant BlackBerry has announced plans to make its instant messaging service available to those with iPhones or Androids.
BlackBerry Messenger, better known as BBM, was previously only able to be used by those with BlackBerry handsets, but will be working on other smartphones by the summer.
The facility, which allows users to send free real-time messages to any of their contacts via a pin code, has more than 60 million monthly active customers, according to BlackBerry.
More than 51 million people use BBM for an average of 90 minutes per day, it said, while BBM users collectively send and receive more than 10 billion messages each day, nearly twice as many messages per user per day than other mobile messaging apps.
If approved by Apple and Google, BBM will be available as a free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

Google Glass can't be sold, loaned or gifted says Google

In an interview with the BBC Eric Schmidt indicated that Google Glass would not be commercially released to the public until 2014.
Despite Google co-founder Sergey Brin saying that he hoped the Glass would drop late this year, and initial rumours that the commercial introduction of Google Glass wasn’t to be expected until  2015, Schmidt seemed confident that Glass would officially appear  in early 2014.
“Well, the developers are beginning now. It would be fair to say that there will be thousands of these in use by developers over the next months and based on their feedback we’ll make some product changes and it’s probably a year-ish away,” he said.

Microsoft assault on Google shows industry rift

follow @moshmustapha on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

San Francisco - Microsoft is skewering Google again with ads and regulatory bashing that say as much about the dramatic shift in the technology industry's competitive landscape as they do about the animosity between the two rivals.
The ads that began on Tuesday mark the third phase in a five-month-old marketing campaign that Microsoft derisively calls “Scroogled.” The ads, which have appeared online, on television and in print, depict Google as a duplicitous company more interested in increasing profits and power than protecting people's privacy and providing unbiased search results.
