In the previous week, it was reported that Facebook Inc(NASDAQ:FB) is likely to reveal its own version of Google Android Operating System which would be customized. The social networking giant would be bringing out the “special” version of Android Operating System for an HTC device.
It is also speculated that it would be launching this on the new HTC device but there are some reports stating that the operating system would also be running on even HTC’s older handsets as well as for the new handset, HTC One.
But, some reports are now suggesting that Facebook’s version may be named “Facebook Home” and sources also disclose to 9to5Google that new tagline on the invitations, “Come See Our New Home On Android”, is a teaser for the new product name.
The new version will be deeply integrated with Android. Facebook Photos, Messenger as well as Contacts would be set as default programs. The Facebook Messenger would be used both for messaging the Facebook friends and sending SMS text messages. The HTC smartphone which would be featuring the modified Android OS is probably going to be announced as well.
Sources opine that this phone is akin to iPhone 5 having a home button at the bottom-centre and capacitive button on left and right side. This device would be having a large screen size of more than 4-inches, speculations stating that it may be 4.3-inches.
There is also expectation that Facebook may announce upgrade to its Android App. The users of Android have been in wait for a while now for a reasonable Facebook for the Android app. There is hope that the app would be as smooth as iOS app.
The social networking giant is making its employees a little harder on the Android app. Hence, it would be good to see some results come from this.
