Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has denied asking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stop investigating him. This statement is contained in a press release issued and signed by Senator's Special Assistant on Media and Advocacy, Bamikole Omishore October 3, 2013.

In the statement, Omishore debunks recent "speculation" in media that the Kawu Baraje's faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (new PDP) allegedly demanded the EFCC not to probe Saraki.
"We would like to categorically put on record that this allegation is utterly false and at no time did Senator Saraki personally or through anyone else ask that the EFCC be influenced to stop any investigation into him," the statement reads in part.
Omishore further assured that Senator Saraki is "a law-abiding citizen" who strongly believes in the rule of law and open democratic accountability. Omishore supports the argument, recalling that under Saraki's governorship, that laster from 2003 to 2011, Kwara became the first state to make its accounts open to public.

Despite the great tragedy that occurred yesterday, where the plane carrying Agagu's corpse crashed and killed 15 people, members of the late governor's family have insisted that they will go ahead with his burial. The Chairman of Ondo State PDP, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, made  this  known yesterday.
“We have just consulted with the family and it has been decided that they would go ahead with the burial. This is more so that his  son, and son-in-law survived the crash. We are also aware that the casket bearing Agagu’s  body  was not affected by the crash. While we  sympathise with the families of  those who lost their  loved ones  in the crash, we  will go ahead with the burial.” He said

The Lagos State Chapter of the PDP has come out to accuse the Lagos Governor, Fashola, of high level corruption in governance, stating that the governor ploughs the state’s proceeds into personal businesses, one of which is the newly commissioned 23 Storey Hotel building which has cost 30billion Naira to complete.
The Party averred that it strongly believes that Governor Fashola has about 60 percent financial contribution in the completion of the 23 Storey, N30 Billion worth hotel. “That indeed accounted for why he personally commissioned the Hotel”.

follow @moshbyte on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar, for his alleged role in the raging crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He also asked President Goodluck Jonathan to deal decisively with the members of the “New PDP” led by Kawu Baraje, especially the seven governors in its fold, by arresting their associates.
Mr. Asari-Dokubo, who stated this in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday in Abuja, however, refused to speak about former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, who he said had not taken sides with either the breakaway group or the mainstream PDP led by Bamanga Tukur.
Atiku and the PDP governors of Jigawa, Kano, Sokoto, Kwara, Rivers, Adamawa and Niger States belong to the Baraje faction of the party. They announced the birth of the faction last August 31.
Mr Obasanjo headed the PDP elders team that mediated unsuccessfully in the crisis, though some of the governors are believed to be his political associates.

Tukur threatens New PDP members with Suspension & Prosecution

Y'all know there are two PDP factions
now so to distinguish them we have
to call one - President Jonathan's PDP
and the one that broke away last
weekend - former VP Atiku Abubakar's
PDP. So the chairman of President
Jonathan's PDP Bamanga Tukur today
held a press conference in Abuja
where he threatened members of
Atiku's PDP with suspension, called
them impostors and said the police
should regard them as such. Lol. 2015
will be interesting. What he said at the
press conference below.
Our reason for being here is to
neither inform you without any iota of
doubt that the Peoples Democratic
Party has no faction and there is
neither room nor reason whatsoever
for such a claim under any guise.
The PDP has only one duly elected
National Executive Committee (NEC)
under my Chairmanship. I wish
therefore to state with all emphasis
that any group of persons parading
themselves as leaders of NEC or any
other organ of our party are
impostors and I urge all Nigerians,
especially the security agencies and
other institutions of democracy to
regard them as such.
Let me state categorically that the PDP
as the sole custodian of the sacred
mandate of over 160 million Nigerians
and who in the last fourteen years
has lifted high the banner of
democracy will not fold its arms while
some  undemocratic and unpatriotic
elements destroy our common
destiny by causing divisions and
confusion among the people.
Consequently, we shall ensure that
any person who is not duly elected
into any leadership position in our
great party and has not been duly
assigned any role but goes ahead to
arrogate such to himself will be made
to face the full wrath of the law.
Similarly, all persons elected on the
platform of our great party at all levels
who identify with these enemies of
the oneness and greatness of our
party shall have their seats declared
vacant as required by law.
We shall leave no stone unturned to
ensure that such persons and indeed
any other individual who attempts to
subvert the leadership of the PDP shall
reap in full, the consequences of such
actions.
I wish to emphasize that the PDP has
adequate mechanism for internal
conflict resolution. All party members
are therefore advised to ventilate their
grievances through this medium.
There is only one lawfully recognized
PDP and I am firmly in charge,”
Bamanga Tukur declared.
Meanwhile 26 Senators and at least 57
members of the House of
Representatives have declared loyalty
to “The New PDP” chaired by
Abubakar Baraje.

North and the 2015 presidency

follow @moshmustapha on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

TO some observers, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plans to choose President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole aspirant for its presidential ticket for the 2015 election. Supporters of the president, especially his kinsmen from the South- South, have also been unrelenting in trying to convince other stakeholders on the need for the president to continue in office. The likes of Chief Edwin Clark, Tompolo, Asari  Dokubo and others from the  president’s zone had, in several interviews, appeared to have threatened thunder and brimstone if the President was not allowed to succeed himself in office, come 2015.These remarks were often met with stiff reactions from  many Northerners who still nursed the grudge that the North  was politically shortchanged in 2011.
