REVEALED: "Why We Killed Ironsi And Installed Gowon"

Lt. General Jeremiah Useni needs no introduction. The prominent role he played during the reign of late Head of State, Sani Abacha, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is well known.
However, there are two things about Jeremiah Useni, who was referred to as ‘Jerry Boy’ at the time. He was indeed a Boy, because he joined the Army at the age of 14. Firstly, he was one of the soldiers who fired shots during the coup against General Ironsi in which the General was killed in Ibadan. Mr. Useni was also the closest person to General Abacha up to his last moments.
This interview, conducted in Hausa by the Hausa language newspaper, Rariya, and translated to English, reveals a lot of things many of us didn’t know, including the conspiracies that denied him the opportunity of succeeding Mr. Abacha after he died.

The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar, for his alleged role in the raging crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He also asked President Goodluck Jonathan to deal decisively with the members of the “New PDP” led by Kawu Baraje, especially the seven governors in its fold, by arresting their associates.
Mr. Asari-Dokubo, who stated this in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday in Abuja, however, refused to speak about former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, who he said had not taken sides with either the breakaway group or the mainstream PDP led by Bamanga Tukur.
Atiku and the PDP governors of Jigawa, Kano, Sokoto, Kwara, Rivers, Adamawa and Niger States belong to the Baraje faction of the party. They announced the birth of the faction last August 31.
Mr Obasanjo headed the PDP elders team that mediated unsuccessfully in the crisis, though some of the governors are believed to be his political associates.

North and the 2015 presidency
follow @moshmustapha on twitter for more or like on facebook Mosh Byte

TO some observers, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plans to choose President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole aspirant for its presidential ticket for the 2015 election. Supporters of the president, especially his kinsmen from the South- South, have also been unrelenting in trying to convince other stakeholders on the need for the president to continue in office. The likes of Chief Edwin Clark, Tompolo, Asari Dokubo and others from the president’s zone had, in several interviews, appeared to have threatened thunder and brimstone if the President was not allowed to succeed himself in office, come 2015.These remarks were often met with stiff reactions from many Northerners who still nursed the grudge that the North was politically shortchanged in 2011.

THE Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kano on Easter Sunday shot dead 14 suspected terrorists during a gun duel when they stormed their bomb factory hideout at Yan’Awaki area of Unguwa Uku quarters in Kano metropolis.
However, a source who preferred anonymity said the 14 terrorists were consumed by their own homemade Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) targeted at the JTF who raided the hideout
According to the source, when the JTF stormed the area and the terrorists felt that their time was up and there was no escape route, they then detonated the explosives which consumed them.
Our source further disclosed that security operatives also foiled a suicide bomb attempt when a bomb-laden Golf car was intercepted at Yan’Awaki area of Unguwa Uku during which they recovered a cache of arms.
It was also learnt that one soldier was killed, while another one sustained injuries when the JTF operatives confronted the terrorists.
The JTF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed that 14 terrorists were killed while 14 AK-47 rifles were recovered during the battle with the terrorists.
Captain Iweha also disclosed that one soldier was killed during the confrontation, while another one sustained injuries, adding that the entire the area had been combed by security agents in the early morning of Sunday.
