The menace of Boko Haram on the educational sector of the
country has been tragic with over 70 teachers and 100 students
slaughtered and forcing about 15,000 potential students out of school.
This
was made known by Amnesty International in a report released on
Thursday titled “‘Keep Away From Schools or We’ll Kill You’: Education
Under Attack in Nigeria”
In its report Amnesty Inteenational
described the gruesome attacks on the educational front as an absolute
disregard for the right to life and the right to education as well as
crime against humanity.
Due to the sporadic attacks on teachers
and pupils almost all schools in Bama, Baga, Jajeri, Umarari Garnam,
Mai Malari, Mungono and Gamboru were forced to close between February
2012 and June 2013, the report stated. It called on the government to
live up to its responsibility of providing protection for schools in the
region, investigating these attacks and bringing those responsible to
justice.

The Glee actress, 26, hit the red carpet at Latina magazine's Hollywood Hot List Party Thursday night in Hollywood, where she openly showed off her ring from the Beware rapper, 25. Just Jared was the first to break the news of the couple's engagement, which E! News confirmed.
They officially debuted their relationship back in April at the premiere of the movie 42 .

Feyi, the son of late former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Agagu, has
said that he is alright and no one should worry about his state.
Feyi spoke when his friends, led by Jide Obanikoro, the son of a former Nigeria’s ambassador to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro, visited him at the Surgical Emergency ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he and other victims of the Associated Airline plane crash were rushed to on Thursday.
The victim, who spoke normally, said he became unconscious after feeling the impact of the aeroplane hitting the ground but woke up later.

Feyi spoke when his friends, led by Jide Obanikoro, the son of a former Nigeria’s ambassador to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro, visited him at the Surgical Emergency ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he and other victims of the Associated Airline plane crash were rushed to on Thursday.
The victim, who spoke normally, said he became unconscious after feeling the impact of the aeroplane hitting the ground but woke up later.
He had a neck support and some bandages but he giggled when he saw his friends wearing worried faces.
While being wheeled to the Intensive Care Unit for a body scan, the victim threw his right thumb up to his friends, saying ‘nothing do me’.

The 'old skoolers' will remember this song 'Nothing Compares To You'. Have you seen the video? Most of the people who have say it bears a resemblance to Miley Cyrus' new video "Wrecking Ball." Not the licking or naked part, but the intense and emotional close up shot.
The singer, 46-year-old Sinead O'Connor, has gone out of her way to write a letter to Miley Cyrus for everyone to read.
While it may have not mentioned much about the comparison of the video, it addressed many of the issues most people have with Miley's new look and aura right now.
Her daring and provocative style prompted Sinead to say:
"I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos. It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether its the music business or yourself doing the pimping."
Sinead firmly believes that the artist does not care about herself. For her, Miley's actions should change.
She wrote, " You ought be protected as a precious young lady by anyone in your employ and anyone around you, including you." Anyone who has read and will read the open letter to Miley will see just how passionate Sinead is about her opinion towards Miley. "You are worth more than your body or your sexual appeal...I repeat, you have enough talent that you don’t need to let the music business make a prostitute of you."

PDP CRISIS: Saraki Says He Never Asked EFCC To Stop Probing Him

Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has denied asking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stop investigating him. This statement is contained in a press release issued and signed by Senator's Special Assistant on Media and Advocacy, Bamikole Omishore October 3, 2013.
In the statement, Omishore debunks recent "speculation" in media that the Kawu Baraje's faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (new PDP) allegedly demanded the EFCC not to probe Saraki.

would like to categorically put on record that this allegation is
utterly false and at no time did Senator Saraki personally or through

that Senator Saraki is "a law-abiding citizen" who strongly believes in
the rule of law and open democratic accountability. Omishore supports
the argument, recalling that under Saraki's governorship, that laster

Obasanjo, clad in a white flowing agbada with blue cap, was a guest at a leadership training programme held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, when he received a call during a photo session with attendees of the programme.
Agagu's burial holds today despite plane crash

Despite the great tragedy that occurred yesterday, where the plane
carrying Agagu's corpse crashed and killed 15 people, members of the
late governor's family have insisted that they will go ahead with his
burial. The Chairman of Ondo State PDP, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, made this
known yesterday.
“We have just consulted with the family and it has been decided that they would go ahead with the burial. This is more so that his son, and son-in-law survived the crash. We are also aware that the casket bearing Agagu’s body was not affected by the crash. While we sympathise with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the crash, we will go ahead with the burial.” He said
