U.S. Starts Hunting For Nigerian Scammers
Nigerian scams are widely known throughout the world. Though they are often poorly disguised, some gullible people still fall for them, and become victims of greedy and sly fraudsters. 
In United States, a new government's initiative may put an end to those practices. The body responsible for consumer protection, the Federal Trade Commission, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with two Nigerian agencies to increase cooperation against that type of scam.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday in New York urged politician to put the nation’s interest first in all their activities to ensure progress and speedy development of the country.

Jonathan made the remark at a meeting with Nigerian living in the U.S.
“Politicians should consider the interest of the country first before their own and as patriots they should not burn the building down because as stakeholders they have the interest of living there.Jonathan said the constitution provides for a four year term and a maximum of eight years term limit for elected executive office holders in the country.
The president noted that the governors like other executive office holders have an eight years limit, explaining that at the end of an election, the elected person or persons should be given the opportunity to do the work assigned to them by the constitution.

The United States Consul- General, Jeffrey Hawkins yesterday reiterated Nigeria’s disqualification for the 2015 Diversity Visa lottery. He also revealed that Nigerians were over half a million in the United States and the most educated African immigrants as studies have shown.
Nigeria and 18 other countries have been advised against applying for the 2015 Diversity visa as they have been fully represented in the immigrants group in the United States.

United States Announces $10 Million in Support for G-8 Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative

Today at the G-8 Foreign Ministers meeting in London, the United States joined G-8 partners in support of the United Kingdom’s Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative, and reaffirmed its commitment to work with the international community to strengthen global coordination and individual countries’ capacity to prevent sexual violence; promote justice and accountability; and provide care for survivors of such violence. Together with the G-8, the United States is calling upon the international community to mobilize funding for efforts to prevent and respond to sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence in conflict situations, including at the first stages of crisis and in the initial response to humanitarian emergencies.
