The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first child was born in the private wing of St Mary's Hospital in London on Monday afternoon.
The future
king was born at 4.24pm in St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with the Duke of
Cambridge in attendance.
Well-wishers from around the globe cheered with excitement as news of the
birth of the royal baby spread to the outside the Palace where many had
gathered.
A written announcement of the birth, signed by the Duchess of
Cambridge's doctors, was driven by chauffeur to Buckingham Palace to be
displayed to the public.
One man shouted: "It's a boy," prompting crowds to erupt into spontaneous
cheering as the easel displaying the news was placed in the forecourt.
