The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate have revealed their new born son's name.

Kensington Palace said in a short statement yesterdays  evening:

'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced their newborn son is to be called George Alexander Louis. He will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
The announcement at 6.20pm showed the couple have chosen to stick with very traditional royal names. There have already been six British monarchs called George – the last being the Queen's father, George VI. Louis is also a favourite and was the name of Lord Mountbatten, the uncle of the Duke of Edinburgh.
The announcement comes a day after the duchess left hospital and two days after she gave birth, and hours after the Queen met her great-grandson for the first time.
George was the most popular name with betting firms William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power. James was also a favourite with punters, with Alexander, Henry, Louis, Richard and Arthur the next most popular choices.

"It's very special," said William. The prince has already changed his first diaper, the couple told reporters.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first child was born in the private wing of St Mary's Hospital in London on Monday afternoon.

The future king was born at 4.24pm in St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with the Duke of Cambridge in attendance.

Well-wishers from around the globe cheered with excitement as news of the birth of the royal baby spread to the outside the Palace where many had gathered.

A written announcement of the birth, signed by the Duchess of Cambridge's doctors, was driven by chauffeur to Buckingham Palace to be displayed to the public.

One man shouted: "It's a boy," prompting crowds to erupt into spontaneous cheering as the easel displaying the news was placed in the forecourt.

Royal baby a Cancerian 'who could change monarchy'

You don't need a horoscope to predict a life of palaces and privilege for Britain's royal baby -- but astrologers say the future king will be a sensitive Cancerian who could help "transform" the royal family. The child follows both his father Prince William and his late grandmother, Diana, princess of Wales, by being born under the sign of the crab.
William's wife Kate gave birth to the baby in London at 4:24 pm (1524 GMT) on Monday. Had the as yet unnamed Prince of Cambridge arrived just 34 minutes later, he would have been a Leo with a quite different astrological character.
