Glo turns subscribers to landlords with Phonelord

Globacom has launched a mouth-watering and innovative product tagged Phonelord which rewards its subscribers for housing Glo SIMs in their phones.

The company said from now on it would pay its subscribers rents for using their phones to provide shelter for their Glo SIMs just like tenants pay rents to landlords.  

Launching the product in Lagos on Wednesday, July 10, Globacom’s Coordinator Marketing, Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya, said the company was the first telecoms network in Nigeria to reward subscribers for accommodating its SIM in their handsets.

Glo, Huawei Sign $750m Network Expansion Pact

National telecommunications operator, Globacom, has signed a $750 million (N116.25 billion) agreement with Huawei Technologies, a leading global ICT solutions provider, to expand the capacity of the Glo network.

Speaking at the signing of the partnership agreement in Lagos, Globacom’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Jameel, explained that the network enhancement project was part of the 10th anniversary plan to enhance the experience of the millions of subscribers on the Globacom network.

“After 10 years in business, we decided to upscale our network 10-fold to the very latest technology in global telecommunications.

Battle for Glo’s N24m on as GLO X-Factor Auditions begin

Auditions will begin this weekend in Port Harcourt in the world’s number one music singing talent reality TV show, “The X Factor”, brought to Africa for the first time by leading telecommunications company, Globacom.
Head of Reality Shows of Globacom, Sulyman Bello, said in a statement issued in Lagos that auditions to select those who would participate in the show would be held at the Presidential Hotel, Aba Road, Port Harcourt, from Saturday April 13, to Sunday, April 14, 2013.
The X Factor crew will move to the Federal Capital City the following week for the Abuja auditions which will take place at Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotel, on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21.
