 Germany celebrating with the trophy.
Germany dashed Argentina’s hopes of winning the World Cup for a third time after they beat the South Americans 1-0 in the final of Brazil 2014 at the iconic Maracana Stadium on Sunday.
Both countries had earlier met in the World Cup final — Mexico 1986, Italia ’90 — with the Diego Maradona-led Argentina beating the Germans 3-2 in Mexico while Germany won in 1-0 in Italy — with Maradona on the losing side.
An extra time goal scored by Mario Goetze was all the Germans needed to win their fourth World Cup title at the expense of Argentina.

The film is set to focus on Messi's boyhood in Argentina and treatment for growth hormone deficiency, before depicting his on-field successes.

Epic Pictures Group hopes to finish the film in time for the 2014 World Cup.

Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike will miss June's 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the Fifa Confederations Cup due to a knee injury.
The 25-year-old Spartak Moscow picked up the injury on Sunday, on his return from a long-term hamstring layoff, during a Russian Premier League match.
His club have confirmed that Emenike will be out of action for two months.
"It's a terrible setback for me because I was very happy to be back playing again on Sunday," he told BBC Sport.

Captain Joseph Yobo is again missing in Stephen Keshi's squad for a packed schedule in June while Emmanuel Emenike returns to the side after his injury as well as Kalu Uche.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has invited 30 players to prosecute the team's jumbo schedule between the end of May and mid-July, in which about 10 matches loom.
The African champions have a high-profile friendly against CONCACAF champions Mexico in Houston, Texas, USA on the last day of May, before two World Cup qualifying matches in Nairobi and Windhoek that come before the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil.
Nigeria play Tahiti, Uruguay and Spain in Brazil but will play two more games if they advance to the knock-out stage, before returning to Africa for a 2014 African Nations Championship qualifying fixture against Cote d'Ivoire.
