It has been over 700 years since a Pope Emeritus celebrated a birthday. While we do not know the day on which Pope Celestine V, the last pope to resign for reasons other than making clear the line of papal succession, was born, it is likely that he celebrated his final birthday while imprisoned by his successor, Pope Boniface VIII, in the last nine months of his life.

10 people killed in clash between Christians and Muslims in Plateau

Leaders in two villages in central Nigeria say at least 10 people have been killed in attacks between the Christians and Muslims living there.
The killings began over the weekend between the Jukun people of Plateau state, a Muslim ethnic group, and the Tarok people, who are Christian.

On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches.

As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.
