Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid following his transfer from Tottenham. As this gallery shows, Real is not averse to splashing the cash.

Spanish football club Real Madrid completed the signing of Gareth Bale from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur Sunday, to end weeks of speculation over one of the off-season's most anticipated transfer deals.
Bale joins the La Liga giants for six seasons, Real said on its website, and he will be unveiled at Real's Bernabeu Stadium Monday at 1 p.m. local time.
Neither club has disclosed the value of the deal but British media outlets Sky Sports and the BBC reported it was a world-record move worth $132 million that was greater than the $124 million fee Real Madrid produced to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United in 2009.

Football Icon David Beckham To Retire

One of the most iconic football stars of his generation, David Beckham is to retire at the end of the season to bring down the curtain on a glittering career.
As well as winning over 100 caps for his England and lifting 19 trophies in two different continents, it was his ability to maximize the power of the "Beckham brand" that allowed the footballer to transcend his sport and appeal to a worldwide mass audience.
Beckham's marriage to former Spice Girl and fashion designer, Victoria, probably helped as well.
"Brand Beckham is dead, long live Brand Beckham!" sports business expert Simon Chadwick told CNN. "Beckham's transition from athlete commodity to sporting statesman and entrepreneur is now complete."

Bayern complete Barca humiliation

Bayern Munich cruised into a first all-
German Champions League final
when they routed Barcelona 3-0 at the
Nou Camp today to secure a crushing
7-0 aggregate success.
The newly-crowned Bundesliga
champions had effectively killed off
the tie with last week's 4-0 victory in
Germany and there was no way back
for the Spaniards when Arjen Robben
blasted the ball past Victor Valdes in
the 49th minute.
Barca's humiliation was completed
late in the game when Gerard Pique
skewed the ball into his own net and
Thomas Mueller, who scored twice in
last week's first leg, nodded Bayern's
third.
Barca, like Bayern chasing a fifth
European crown, were deprived of
the talents of Lionel Messi, who is
coming back from a hamstring injury
and was left on the bench, and
without the talismanic World Player of
the Year they barely threatened.
The Bavarians will play Borussia
Dortmund in the final at London's
Wembley stadium on May 25 after
Dortmund squeaked past Real Madrid
4-3 on aggregate yesterday.
