Now we are witnessing a turning point in the history of Scotland. Today, 18th September 2014, this country is holding a referendum where voters respond to a single question: “Should Scotland be an independent country?”
Perhaps, it would the end the story of the United Kingdom, created by the political union in England and Scotland in 1707. Union of Scotland and England has more than three hundred years of history. It was only in the last few decades there have been calls for independence. In 2012 British Prime Minister David Cameron agreed with the idea of a referendum, allowing the Scottish National Party to realize the old dream.

Wayne Rooney Tops Premier League Rich List

Wayne Rooney is the richest Barclays Premier
League player with a personal fortune of £51
million. This is according to a recent publication
by Sunday Times magazine on sportsmen in
Great Britain and Ireland.
The striker is £9 million richer than fellow
Manchester United team- mate Rio Ferdinand
(£42m). Rooney and Ferdinand are among of 24
current Premier League payers on the list of 100
wealthiest sportsmen in Great Britain and
Ireland.
Michael Owen came third (£38m) among the
Premier League players, ahead of Ryan Giggs and
Frank Lampard, both players rated at £34 million.
Steven Gerard is Liverpool’s richest player with a
£33 million fortune, while Carlos Tevez (£18m) is
the only Manchester City player on the list.
Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Robin van
Persie are among the six Manchester United
players on the list. Van Persie who is a new
entrant is rated at £12 million.
David Beckham tops them all with a fortune of
£165 million. Beckham who plays for Paris St
Germain is the richest sportsman in Britain, 11th
on the Sunday Times World Sport rich List,
headed by Tiger Woods (£570m).
The Rich List is based on identifiable wealth,
including land, property, other assets such as art
and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly
quoted companies. It excludes bank accounts.

Manchester United win 20th English Premier League Title

Fuelled by money from the Middle East, Manchester City was supposed to have ushered in a new period of dominance in English football last season after capturing its first league title in nearly half a century.
Manchester United had other ideas.
Just like Arsenal and Chelsea previously, City has discovered to its cost that United loves nothing more than hitting back when its hegemony is challenged.
The noisy neighbors — as Alex Ferguson likes to call City — have been well and truly quietened.
To many, this isn’t a vintage United team compared to the swashbuckling treble-winning side of 1998-99 and the Cristiano Ronaldo-led line-up from 2007-08. Too many players — Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Antonio Valencia, Paul Scholes, Ashley Young among them — have struggled this season, critics say. It’s been more grit than glamor.
The statistics say otherwise.
The title-clinching 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday kept the team on course for the highest points tally in history of English topflight football, beating Chelsea’s haul of 95 from 2004-05. That will be secured if United wins its final four games.

Goal-line technology: Premier League votes in favour for 2013-14v

The Premier League has voted to introduce goal-line technology from the 2013-14 season.

British-based Hawk-Eye has been awarded the contract to provide the system.
Hawk-Eye uses seven cameras per goal to detect the ball and claims its system is "millimetre accurate, ensuring no broadcast replays could disprove the decision".
The Football Association will install a system at Wembley Stadium in time for August's Community Shield.

Lady Diana Frances Spencer married Prince Charles (1948–) in 1981 and became Princess of Wales. Retaining her title and her popularity after the royal couple divorced in 1996, Diana continued her charitable work. She died in a tragic car accident in 1997.

Quiet and reserved

Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961, in Norfolk, England, the third of the Lord and Lady Althorp's four children. She grew up next door to the royal family's Sandringham estate. One of Diana's playmates was Prince Andrew, Charles's brother. Diana's mother, the Honorable Frances Shand-Kydd, was the daughter of a wealthy Anglo-Irish baron. Diana's father, the Viscount Althorp, who became an earl in 1975, was a direct descendant of King Charles II (1630–1685).
Diana, a quiet and reserved child, had a happy home life until she was eight years old, when her parents went through a bitter divorce. Her father won custody of the children. Diana's academic career was unremarkable. She was tutored at home until age nine, when she was sent to Riddlesworth Hall in Norfolk. At the age of twelve, Diana began attending the exclusive West Heath School in Sevenoaks, Kent, England. After failing to pass two exams she left West Heath at the age of sixteen. Her father then sent her to a Swiss school, but she quickly became homesick and returned to Norfolk. She hired herself out as a part-time cleaning woman for a while before finding work as a kindergarten teacher's assistant.
