Pregnant Woman, Seven Others Die in Accident

 Eight people including a pregnant woman on Monday lost their lives in an auto crash along Gbongan/Ibadan express road in Osogbo, Osun state.
The victims of the auto crash were said to be traders going from Ede to Owode via Osogbo when the accident happened at about 6.40 am.
Daily Trust gathered that the accident which involved three different vehicles occurred when a blue gulf car with registration number AG 19
EDE coming from Ede somersaulted and landed on a KIA car with registration number KUJ 74 AJ as a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XR 930 ABC rammed into them.
It was a gory scene as the bodies of the victims which were broken in parts littered the place until officials of the Osun Ambulance service evacuated the remains of the victims from the road.
The accident affected commercial activities in the area as many traders who had gone to the popular Owode market where the deceased were also going returned home as a mark of honour for them.
The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Imoh Etuk who confirmed the accident, said the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
He said officials of the FRSC along with the Osun State Ambulance Service and the Police did their best to rescue the accident victims. He added that victims were rushed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.
Mr. Etuk who described the auto crash as a fatal one, said the identities of the victims could not be ascertained yet. He noted that officials of the FRSC are making efforts to contact relatives of the victims through the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
He also warned drivers against high speed and charged them to observe all precautionary measures while on high ways.
Etuk said the state command of the FRSC would do its best to ensure that road accidents are reduced in all parts of the state, urging all drivers to also co-operate with the FRSC to make the state a safe one for all road users.
