Ogun State House of Assembly yesterday passed the two resolutions
requesting for approval to obtain internal loans of N15 billion from GTB
Plc to further the various Ogun Standard projects across the State and
N1.6 billion counterpart funding loan for UBEC from ECOBANK Nigeria
limited.
Opening the debate in support of
the loan request through a motion moved by the majority leader Hon.
Israel Jolaoso and seconded by Hon. Salmon Adeleke while that of UBEC
was seconded by Bowale Solaja, Jolaoso stressed the need for the Senator
Ibikunle Amosun led-government to continue with the on- going
development projects across the State, saying that the Assembly had
earlier between the assembly and Finance ministry on modalities for
repayment.
Others who spoke in support of the resolutions included Adeyinka
Mafe,John Obafemi , Olayiwola Ojodu, Turayo Adeleye –Oladapo, Aina
Akinpelu, Abiodun Akovoyon, Wilfred Allen-Taylor, Salmon Adeleke and
Olusola Bankole said the loan would further advance the socio-economic
development of the State.
The assemblymen unanimously agreed that the development projects
needed to be continued, while calling on government to ensure that the
projects were spread to other parts of the State.
They also enjoined the State government to invest more in employment
generation programmes, so that more employment opportunities would be
created for the youths.
