An education consultant, Ike Onyechere has said that the policy of scrapping JAMB and NECO is one of the best decisions that President Goodluck Jonathan should have taken a long time ago in the education sector.
While speaking on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show Sunrise Daily, Mr Onyechere said the education stakeholders have been calling for something drastic to be done in the education sector, “some people went as far as calling for declaration of state of emergency in the educational sector”.
He added that the decision is a good one and a lot of stakeholders are in support of it.
Mr Onyechere explained that a lot of candidates for this year’s JAMB are disenfranchised because most of them are being posted to write the examination far from their locations.
He said most of them are confused and have said they will not be partaking from this year’s exams.
The educationist said one of the reasons why JAMB should be scrapped is that there is no institution abroad whose admission is being controlled by a government parastatals.
He said other countries come here to recruit our students directly but our institutions can’t go there to recruit their students, which is why we don’t have foreign students in Nigeria.
