Nigerian fabrics have continued to gain global recognition as more European designers showcase ethnic prints at various fashion shows.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that top on the list of fabrics are the Nichem prints, a Nigerian block wax as well as tie and dye brocade.

At the 2013 Spring/Summer Fashion show in Paris, print fabrics by top designer brands such as Mary Katranzhou, Alexander Macqueen and Vivienne Westwood made the headlines.
The Nigerian Ambassador to France, Amb.Akin Fayomi, in an interview with NAN in Paris, said the development was a positive one as it was also exposing indigenous designers to the global fashion scene.
"It has become a standard practise to have a Nigerian fashion fair in Paris; many local designers now come here to showcase our fabrics and designs. In May this year, Nigerian designers will participate in a fashion week here; although they mostly use foreign models, the fabrics and styles are totally Nigerian," Fayomi said.
The envoy further said that the embassy would continue to support and create a platform for the designers to showcase their creation and foster partnership.
