Portuguese boss hint at possible return to Chelsea.
The will-he-won’t-he saga with Jose Mourinho continued to rage at Real Madrid according to The Daily Star.
The
Portuguese boss is due to meet with Real Madrid officials at the end of
the season where he is widely expected to part ways with the club.
Mourinho
is thought to have endured a fractured relationship with the dressing
room this season with Spanish newspaper Marca reporting in January that
club captains Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos have informed the club’s
hierarchy that they will hand in transfer requests should Mourinho
remain in charge at the beginning of next season.
The club’s performance on the pitch has also been disappointing. While
Madrid can still win two cups in the form of the Champions League and
the Copa del Rey, they have lost significant ground to Barcelona in the
race for the La Liga title.
A host of top European sides are thought to be ready to snap up the Special One should he become available.
Chelsea are thought to be leading the race for his signature with the likes of PSG and Inter Milan thought to be close behind.
Reports
are suggesting that on a recent trip to visit his son playing for the
Canillas youth team, Mourinho pointed to a photograph of a Chelsea
open-top bus, pointed to it, and said “I’ll be on that bus next season.”
The
Canillas President, Manuel Alvarez said, “Jose told us he won’t be able
to give his usual technical talk to our coaching staff next season
because he’s not going to be here.
“He said jokingly and seriously, so I do not know clearly what he meant.
“We did not ask more. If he leaves, it will be a great loss for Spanish football.”
