Reports reaching N.B. indicates that three
Cardinal candidates have succeeded as leading candidates in the race to
replace the outgoing pope, Benedict XVI. Nigeria’s Francis Arinze, 80, Canada’s Mark Ouellet, 68, and Ghana’s Peter Turkson, 64.
According to the Paddy Power Plc, Francis Arinze is a 7-2
frontrunner, Peter Turkson is a 3-1, while Canadian Marc Oullet is a
5-2.
Vatican spokeman, Father Federico Lombardi mentioned at a recent news
meeting in Rome that the new pope will be selected through a special
assembly of cardinals privately separated in the Sistine Chapel at the
Vatican until they come to an agreement on the successor. The Vatican
also added that the outgoing Pope Benedict will have no part in choosing
his replacement.
Who do you think will succeed Pope Benedict XVI? An African Cardinal or a North American?
Nigeria – Francis Arinze, Ghana – Peter Turkson, Canada – Marc Oullet.
